My Monthly Challenge

Over on Sew Bittersweet Designs there was ‘A Lovely Year of Finishes’ where people would challenge themselves each month to complete something, I thought it was a great idea and was looking forward to taking part in 2016. So I was disappointed to hear it would no longer be running.

I decided to run my own personal challenge, called (original I know!) My Monthly Challenge. I’ve even designed my own button.

At the beginning of each month I will tell you about my challenge, and hopefully by the end of the month you will be able to see the finished project! A lot at first will be UFO’s, I’ve quite a few…but there are other things I want to sew in 2016, like trousers (Confession time, I’ve never made a pair of trousers!!!)

If you’d like to join in, feel free to use my button, just add a link back to my blog please.

January’s Challenge

My first challenge had to be James’s quilt, as his birthday is on the 16th! I’ve to finish piecing it and quilt and bind it, all in two weeks :-/

January update;

James’s quilt was finished just in time for his birthday, he loves it! You can read more about it here and here.

February’s Challenge.

This month I am aiming to complete my oldest UFO, an embroidery I started 42 years ago when I was 8 years old, I found it the other week and decided I either finished it or disposed of it, luckily I’ve decided to finish it!

February Update

My Lyrebird took all of two evenings to finish!! I took him down to Otley market to get framed, together with his mate, the cockerel. He looks  great, I’m going to hang them both in my sewing room.
