Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh is taking shape! This is a birth sampler design from Freckledoll on Etsy. I’ve made a slight change as the initial of baby is stitched in a different colour, then at the bottom it says ‘…is for Frankie’, of course the letter F was one of the smallest of the alphabet. I redrew the F and G so the F was bigger and the G was small. I think it’s worked pretty well.

Last time I shared my progress I’d done almost half of the sampler…

I’ve now almost finished Pooh bear and I’m up to W on the letters. The little dark brown stitches dotted about will be bees and a butterfly.

I’ve two threads in progress as when I stitched U I thought I’d go straight down to the X, but I realised I was one stitch out on part of the S…which then affected the T and U! I thought initially I’d just compensate with one stitch in, but then I got cold feet as there’s not much gap between the letters here and X is actually quite big, I didn’t want to have to undo a lot of stitches so I went back to the beginning of the row instead.

I’m enjoying stitching this sampler. It’s nice, easy stitching for in front of the TV on an evening. Hopefully it will soon be finished so I can get it framed in time for his first birthday in March.

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!
