On the first Tuesday of the month Wild Daffodil hosts a photographic challenge, this year the theme is simply ‘textiles’…
Over the last few days I’ve been trying to put together a textile book of my mum’s creative bits and bats, UFO’s, finished work, worn…a complete mix – I just didn’t like to throw stuff out when I knew how long it had taken to make, but there are limits to how many things you can have out on display. Hence the idea of a textile book.
This is my work bench at the moment…

…overflowing with textiles! I’ve got my lace box, ribbon box, trims, quilting cottons, as well as a box of my mums stuff all just waiting for their moment to inspire!
In the middle is the page I’ve just finished, three bible and prayer book covers I can slot little paintings into.
For more textile inspiration please follow the link over to Wild Daffodil…
This looks like a work place of a very creative person.

Wow, you end up with as little space to work on as I do. I bet the floor is covered too. I think what you are making will help with the grief and will be a super tribute to your Mum and her skills.

I absoutely adore this post!
So full of warmth, memories, love, and a glorious cornucopia of creativity.
Your work station looks beautifully organised – my is similarly full, but I would be ashamed to share the muddle of it!

Good luck with a super project. A good friend told me that a ‘full’ work station was a clear sign of creativity! I try to follow this. You are clearly following the muse- it has worked wonderfully.

What a fabulous mountain of teeny treasure! No wonder you have such fantastic creations (she writes, trying not to be pea green with envy 🥴).

Hello Margaret, I’m fascinated and wondering why would you put paintings in Bible and prayer book covers? Curious. I’m looking forward to what you create. Regards Mandy xx

your textile journal is certainly a work of love and you will be finding new things to add to it as the years go by. Such a lovely way to remember Mum and also maybe to remember things that you recall using or being used Margaret x
