Lizzie Stitching Wallet

I’ve been stitching away on an evening on my Lizzie Stitching Wallet, a stitch-a-long by Faby Reilly. I’ve just finished the outside piece, it’s a trifold wallet so there’s a front, a back and a third to fold in. We had three weeks to stitch this last section, it’s a mirror image of the other end, this will be the front when it’s all stitched together.

I must admit I thought we had another week before the next pattern came out, so I was a bit surprised when Faby posted on Facebook  ‘Are you ready for section 7 tomorrow?’ Ooh, better stitch my beads on then!

The cross-stitch took quite a few evenings, it’s nice having the mirror image at the other side as it does highlight the huge difference Faby’s back-stitching makes.

Once the cross-stitches were complete, the back-stitching didn’t take too long at all, this evening I just had the purple knots to do and the beads to stitch on. I remembered last time I decided to learn colonial knots for the hydrangea, rather than french knots, I had to go back to the tutorial on the website to remind myself how to do them. It still feels a bit awkward how the thread is twisted, but I do like the result.

I’ve just stitched the beads on the hydrangeas and round the frond, so my homework is finished, a bit at the eleventh hour, but who cares 🙂

We’re working on the inside next, so I need to quickly finish stitching the outline as I never quite got round to that, I think I’m about half way round!

I’m linking up with Kathy’s Quilts for Slow Stitching Sunday, why not follow the link and see what everyone else has been hand-stitching.

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!

I love watching this project develop! And what a great idea to have the mirror images, you can really see the difference that back stitching makes!
