I can’t believe it’s Monday already, where do these weeks go! I did manage to have a few hours gardening this weekend, weeding and tying mainly. The chickens were very happy as all the bitter cress and dandelion leaves were thrown into the chicken run, they love bitter cress!

The geraniums seem to be getting seriously big this year, some of them are just starting to flower. I’m going to have to review one area at the end of the season as I noticed a geranium has spread under the obelisk and seriously taken over, which would be ok if I didn’t like to plant sweet peas up it to mingle with the clematis!

 When I was on holiday I spotted this box of garden twines, lots of different colours, I couldn’t resist it, so my orange honeysuckle is now tied up with orange twine!

Last year I planted up the Amber Amethyst garden so it will be interesting to see how it develops this year, I’ve already spotted one clump of pink tulips that will have to move, not sure how they got in! …and yes, that’s a huge clump of rhubarb that has already gone to see!!

I’ve got a bearded iris in flower, I was pretty excited (and amazed!) to see this one – last year my mother bought me some special irises from France, I had one blue flower last year from about five different corms, some had gone rotten and I really thought I had lost them all so I was very pleased when this beautiful lemon flower appeared.Isn’t it gorgeous!

I’ve rearranged my wire sculptures too, during the winter when the foliage cover reduces I move them out of sight from the lane at the back of the house. Now everything has greened up again so I moved Hubert the heron back to his spot by the pond and Goosey Lucy to a new spot next to the lawn.

I’ve just spent a lovely afternoon with my WI at Thorpe Perrow Arboretum, the bluebells were stunning, the cherry trees were just passed they’re best but still lovely and as for the avenue of magnolia trees….it’s well worth a visit if you’re up near Bedale.
