Stitching on the Go

After quite a lot of time in airports or on planes I’ve just finished the little sheepish virtue cross stitch, well it’s as finished as it can be until I get home as I’ve run out of ecru to finish the border.

For those who are unsure what is allowed on aeroplanes, sewing needles are not a problem, scissors are the issue. Some airlines say you can have ones with a small blade length or round ended ones, however I’ve had a variety of embroidery scissors confiscated. I now take a clover thread cutter which I wear as a pendant, this has never been questioned at airports, I also have a mini pair of scissors, which are not much more than an inch long, these also seem to be acceptable. Interestingly when our bags were searched getting on the cruise ship my bag went through the scanner about 3 times whilst we worked out what they could see, it was the clover cutter. They were happy once I explained what it was.

I’ve just started another sheep virtue, ‘ hope’ and also a new project, a bird alphabet, I’ll try and do another update soon.

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!

This is delightful, Margaret. Such a sensible way to pass the time in an airport. I hope you enjoyed your holiday.
