I’ve finished the Indian Mosiac and yesterday I took it down to the framers! Dipping my toe out of my comfort zone definitely paid off, I’m really pleased with the result!
I bought the kit at the Knitting and Stitching show last year, completely on impulse as the sample on display was stunning and they had a kit in ‘my colours’ I was also reassured by the assistant that it wasn’t difficult, which I suppose it wasn’t, you can make it as hard or easy as you please depending on the type of embroidery you embellish it with. I just like a bit more instruction, but she is trying to make us more creative, there wasn’t even a photo of a finished one on the front!!
The kit is by Stef Francis, all the fabrics, embroidery threads, ribbons, beads etc are included, all beautifully co-ordinated. I added a few extra beads and threads but I could have quite easily completed it from the kit alone. The instructions for making the fabric mosaic are clear and easy to follow and then you are free to do your own thing with embellishment.
If you’ve missed the posts about the Indian Mosiac being made, have a look here and here. There’s photos and details about making the fabric mosaic and also the embroidery stitches I used.
It did push me well out of my comfort zone, I do like to be told what to do! However I found I really enjoyed it, I’m really pleased with the result. I would even go as far as saying I might just be tempted by another one next year!
I love Stef Francis threads but hadn’t seen this kit before – it is lovely. Beautiful colours and I love all your embellishments

It’s so pretty! I’ve never tried anything like that, or a crazy quilt but I’m so tempted now! I do have a stash of specialty scraps that I may have to dig in to.

Thanks Ali, it’s actually far too delicate to make into a cushion, it wouldn’t last two minutes in our house!!
