There’s a Mouse in the House…

I decided a couple of weeks ago to make a Wilhelmina Woodmouse for my new granddaughter for Christmas, she’s six and her favourite colour is dusky pink. Whilst I was at the Knitting and Stitching show at the weekend I visited the Cool Crafting stand and bought some lovely warm white felt for the mouse and some dusky pink felt for a coat. The pattern is in the Luna Lapin and Friends book, I made three rabbits before, I love making all the different outfits…

This time I wanted to make a mouse, in the book she’s called Wilhelmina. She went together pretty easily, I used some ditsy pink floral fabric for the ears and the feet and used blanket-stitch for the seams. I used Gutermann cotton thread this time and it was really nice to use but feels pretty strong.

She even has a cute curly tail!..

She hasn’t learnt to sit like a lady yet so I think a pair of bloomers are required! If everything goes to plan I’ll be making a top, a wrap dress, a coat and a pair of bloomers! I’ve traced the patterns out of the book, just need to get myself organised.

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!

She’s so sweet and will be a very welcome gift for your new granddaughter. Did I miss the post about the new addition to your famly?
I’m a new addict to this set of creatures and have a cat’s head sitting on top my sewing machine as I type 🤣
The clothes are fun to make aren’t they. I haven’t decided yet whether my cat will be boy or girl so will decide on clothes later but have discovered that a little reversible waistcoat – one side pretty fabric, the other more traditional – is a handy little garment to put on either whilst waiting for a full wardrobe.

The new to me grand-daughters are the children of my son’s partner, they’re six and nine, delightful little girls who love making things 🙂
I do like the Luna Lapin creations, I have a sheep kit to do next, I love the way the clothes are properly constructed!

  6. Oh! If only I had known you were going to the Knitting and Stitching Show! I was there on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, on The Stitchbook Collective Stand in Hall C. It is the first time I have been to Harrogate and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sounds like you had a good time too.
