It’s three weeks since I last showed you my coming home quilt, a lot has happened in those three weeks so I haven’t got much done, but I have made progress!
Three weeks ago I was trying to choose colours for the birds in each corner…
Well after much playing around, I realised that the colours that worked depended on the colous of the nearby houses, not surprising really! So, I have a different coloured bird in each corner, a blue one, a purple, a peach and a taupe one. I’ve cut them all out, keeping the pieces safe in an organza bag for the time being.
I started hand-stitching the first corner, I’ve just a few more leaves and then a bias-binding vine to stitch on. Hopefully now I’ve made my decisions I should be able to crack on with it.

Good point on colors of birds dependent on nearby pieces. Sometimes making decisions can be the slowest part of hand stitching. An organza bag is more eco-friendly than plastic. Good job!

I am also making this quilt and need to decide about fabrics for the windows and doors next. With all the time I will be spending at home over the next three weeks, I should be able to make some progress. Your birds and leaves are coming along. It’s fun to see how others are choosing fabrics and colours for this quilt. Stay safe!

Decisions are the hardest part of quilting I think! I always am tripped up there, it is so much easier to just sew! You did well this time with all the things that have been going on in your life.

I think the hardest part is making all those decisions. It’s amazing how the decision making stage can stall a project for a long time (from personal experience). Enjoy the stitching!
