Monday’s Meander Round the Garden

Well I didn’t see that coming!! We woke up to about 3″ of snow this morning – the first snow of the winter!!

It looks very pretty, though my OH wasn’t too impressed as having left home for work at 7am, he had only traveled 1 mile in two hours!! I did offer to walk up with a flask of coffee 🙂

The back lane looked particularly pretty with every twig edged with snow…

Rosie enjoyed playing snow angels on the lawn…

We do have a little bit of colour on our kitchen window sill – as luck would have it yesterday I decided to rescue some daffodils which had been blown over by the storms – they’d just popped their heads out when storm Dennis arrived! They’re a little tatty in places but at least they’ve had a chance to bloom!

I’ve put some extra food out for the birds and a spoonful on the floor as I saw a very cute little mouse scurrying about under the birdfeeders trying to find seeds the birds had discarded. Otherwise it’s definitely a day for staying inside and preferably sewing!

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!

We have no snow down here, yet. Not unheard of though. Our Daff casualty department is in full swing too. Nice to give them a bit of a chance to shine. And Rosie looks like she’s having a ball! My girls just looked at me as if I were mad this morning going out in a full gale with sideways mizzle.

So pretty – especially the Goldie in the snow.
We’ve had none this year despite being in the foothills of the Pyrénees. The poor folk up at the ski station will be twiddling their thumbs – we had a look at it on the webcam yesterday and some people were to be seen walking down the lower slopes carrying their skis because what snow they did have has been melting in unseasonably high temperatures. I’m not complaining.

Beautiful winter scenes. Rosie has the right idea, enjoy it while it lasts. Your poor OH. I hope he made it to work safe.

You captured the beauty of the snowfall perfectly. And your sweet Rosie — how adorable making snow Angels! Enjoy the magic! (wish your OH could have stayed home, nothing worse than trying to get somewhere in the snow- ugh)

It does seem late in the season for that much snow. Mother Nature has set us women-folk a great example in changing our minds on a whim. 😉

Further north than you and all we got was a sprinkling which was slush by 9.30, and all gone under blue skies and sunshine. I have a lovely pot of hyacynths in full bloom this week.

The garden looks beautiful in the snow! We got 3 inches today too, though ours was blowing all over, so not as pretty.
