One of these days I shall surprise you all and finish this quilt, just not today!
I’m still working on the big wide rabbit border and quilting the outer diamond one as I go along. I’ve made reasonable progress on it though, three weeks ago I had quilted one and a half sides…
I’ve now turned another corner and last night I quilted the next running rabbit and most of the diamonds on the next side too. This was because the next side needs the lines marking with my ceramic pencil, this requires a large hard surface, namely my dining room table in the conservatory, and good light, which the conservatory has not got in the evenings.
Having completed over half of this big final border I do feel I’m on the home stretch, I still need to remove a lot of the straight machine basting threads you can see and I mustn’t forget there’s about half of the inner circle still needs quilting as I was struggling with it big time when I started quilting this mammoth quilt. Then it’s just the binding and a good wash – seen as it’s been quite a long time in the making!

The quilt is coming along beautifully but do not rush it and spoil it at this stage. Sometimes it gets frustrating when you feel you are so near the end and yet its still so far away at the same time, and its very tempting to take those shortcuts you know you will regret later. xx

I agree with the lady above in that it will be a sad day when we do not see this amazing quilt any more. Oh, what a beauty it is. The colours and details in this quilt are truly sublime!

Good morning, I know what a big task this project is. Your Rabbit Hole is turning out beautifully. I love the shades of mauves and lavenders you chose…they work so well with the greens and your time spent hand stitching will be so worth it. I still have Grasshopper in its box awaiting my attention. eek

I’m going to miss seeing this lovely quilt! I know your getting excited to have it done. it’s always a good feeling to take those last few stitches. Hang in there you doing a wonderful job!

You’re going great guns now! How are you finding the ceramic pencil for marking up? I don’t know what I’d do without mine… I do enjoy the point in hand-quilting something when you realise you’re over the hump and the downhill is going to get faster and faster!
