Thank you!

In life, you come across people both in the blogging world and in the real world who are very much givers, rather than takers, they encourage and inspire and help others where ever they can.

Sometimes I think it’s nice to make a little token present, just to say thank you for all you do…especially when you realise they’re not having a very good week!

…but what to make!

I looked on pinterest and these two photos were my inspiration, a caravan pincushion! I couldn’t access the pattern for the pincushion so I used the pattern for the picture as a basis, reduced it a bit and then made it up as I went a long!

I chose a pretty blue floral cotton for the top half and a lovely mid blue for the base. I did the applique first with bondaweb, and then I machined round the edge with a variegated thread. My original plan was for curtains at the windows but it got too complicated so I went for blinds using a pretty flowered ribbon I must have had in my sewing box for about 15 years. I zigzagged round it as I thought the ribbon might fray a bit otherwise.

I decided to make pockets on the front and back using the darker fabric, it could be useful for scissors, stitch rippers, all sorts! I actually attached these before I put the gusset on so I didn’t need to try and match it when I was sewing it on. The pincushion went together really easily, I put some heavy plastic canvas covered with batting on the base so it would stand up ok, all I had to do was titivate it.

I stitched a heart button on the door and some little buttons front and back. I needed some pretty big buttons for the wheels and I remembered these blue ones were in my button box. They’re a bit bright, but I think they look ok.

All that was left was a name plate, because most caravans have a name! I embroidered it on a scrap of linen, edged it round onto felt and then stitched it on the front.

One thank you gift ready to be posted on Monday, hopefully it will bring a smile to her face 🙂

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!

I recognise that name! Oh, can it really be for me? 🙂 It’s wonderful, and I can’t believe it’s going to be mine. It will of course be travelling in the Big Miz Lizzie as part of my travel sewing kit when we go away at the beginning of May – and you’ve timed it perfectly! You’ve made my day, and I thank you so very much ❤
