MMM Monday

Me-Made-MayThis week has been quite good for Me-Made-May in that I’ve had a couple of social events where I could dress up a bit more than I would for the usual day of dog walking, housework (occasionally!) and sewing, I’ve even managed to get a few more ‘action’ shots instead of the usual conservatory shot;

On Wednesday I was busy sewing, trying to finish a quilt for my god daughters 18th birthday. This cardigan is lovely to wear, to feels nice and it’s a nice weight too, it’s from my go-to pattern this winter, Butterick 6258.

Friday found me visiting my friends, helping to decorate the conservatory ready for the party, I still managed to find a bit of to embroider one of my Splendid Sampler blocks. I was wearing one of my favourite Archer shirts with my navy Fumeterre skirt.

Saturday was Otley Show day, so I had to dress for the weather. Typical Yorkshire it was warmish, cloudy with occasional rain and even more occasional sunny spells…so dress for all weathers! Under my waterproof I had on my sewing shirt, rather appropriate I thought with all the entries I’d put in, my red cardigan was there in case it got cold!

Saturday night was party night for my God-daughter, I decided to wear my vintage sari dress I made last year. It’s one of those dresses that makes you feel good, the silk is so light it’s almost feels like you’re not wearing anything! I happened to buy a pashmina in Istanbul that matched perfectly with it. The colours of the sari are wonderful, I received quite a few compliments about it too which is always nice. We had a great evening, catching up with old friends.

Yesterday Helen was in a ballet performance with her dance school. She only took up ballet a couple of years ago as part of her Duke of Edinburgh award, she was determined to get en pointe, even though many people said it was impossible, she’d left it too late. Helen is a feisty, determined young lady, she went down to London a couple of months ago to buy her first pointe shoes and today she danced en pointe in a tutu. I was so proud of her. Afterwards we went to the Craven Heifer for a meal to celebrate. Helen still had her stage make-up and false eyelashes on! I wore my purple silk ombre skirt. I have to be very lady like in this skirt as I can’t take a long stride!!

Only just over one week left of Me-Made-May, my wardrobe must be improving as I haven’t struggled as much this year to find something to wear.

About craftycreeky

I live in a busy market town in Yorkshire with my husband, kids, dogs and chickens. I love trying new crafts, rediscovering old ones, gardening, walking...anything creative really I started this blog after my New Year resolution worked so well. My resolution (the first one I've ever kept!) was to post a photograph of my garden on Facebook every day. My hope was that I would then see what was good in the garden and not just weeds and work, which was my tendency. The unexpected side-effect was that I have enjoyed many more hours in the garden. I am hoping that 'The Crafty Creek' will have the same effect. Happy creating!
